The Mabel Olive Airi Foundation has been created to honour the life of our daughter, Mabel Olive Airi Goya, who passed away as a result of pneumococcal meningitis on the 22nd of September, 2021. She was healthy, fully vaccinated, and just 6.5 months old. I hope to raise awareness of this devastating disease and to raise funds to help others.
We still cannot believe this happened to our beautiful daughter. She was joy, she was sunshine, and she didn't deserve this.
I have decided to train for the Mooloolaba Triathlon on the 13th of March, 2022. Mabel would have turned 1 on March 1st. I've never done a triathlon before but I wanted to have a big goal. Doing this will not bring her back. I desperately wish it could. But it is something. In a long line of things. This is how we tell the world her story. This is how Mabel lives on.
The two charities we are fundraising for are: 1. Meningitis Centre Australia - working to defeat meningitis through awareness, education and community support.
2. Precious Wings - providing love, hope, understanding and support to families facing the devastating loss of their child.
My Cause Gift Fund for Precious Wings QLD and Meningitis Centre Australia
Funds donated to the My Cause Gift Fund will be split 50/50 between Meningitis Centre Australia Inc and Precious Wings. The Trustees will always disburse funds to the nominated cause, however in the case that is not possible, the funds will be disbursed to a DGR charity at the trustees discretion.
