Afghanistan is facing one of the worst humanitarian catastrophes.
There is a lack of response to the crisis by the international community, exacerbated by the absence of government services. This fundraising is initiated to feed internally displaced widowed women and their children living in the streets of Kabul. A mother said to us, “my five children have not eaten one meal in the past 24 hours.”
The objective is to provide breakfast, lunch and dinner for 150 women and children for 10 days. The average cost per person per each meal is estimated at around 1.5 AUD. Therefore, 150 persons *3 times *10 days equal to 6,750 AUD.
This initiative will be managed by Organization for Development Solutions (ODS) members from Australia and on the ground in Afghanistan to provide food.
ODS is a grassroots development and peacebuilding NGO in Afghanistan, led by young Afghan Australians. Our work focuses on the specific needs of local communities and empowering local voices. The charity is NOT registered in Australia
UPDATE: With the generous support of our donors, we have expanded our target from the initial $6,750 to $10,000, which will allow us to support more people in need. We will be able to provide breakfast, lunch and dinner for 223 displaced women and children for ten days.
