The Week 1 Challenge – Say My Name, Say My Name
A memorable team name creates excitement, competition and a lasting legacy – ‘The Mighty Ducks’, ‘The Titans’ from ‘Remember the Titans’, ‘The Sandlot Kids’ from ‘The Sandlot Kids’.
FYI, apparently it’s also makes your team really memorable if you have a movie named after your team.

Now the question is…what will your team name be?
From alliterations to puns, we want it all. Be creative – this is the first opportunity you have to win points for your agency and help the good folk at UnLtd.

Having formed a team of eight, submit your team name, a team bio and a team photo onto mycause.com.au (search for ‘NGEN Melbourne’) by July 31st.

We will then upload the team bios and photos onto the NGEN Facebook Page for you and it’s your job to get sharing and liking. Call upon your colleagues, friends, and family to do the same for your chance to score points!

Remember, you’ve got to raise a minimum of $80 in order to qualify for the competition. Getting the people around you excited for your team will help get the ball rolling. Don’t let poor fundraising efforts stand in the way of your agency’s victory!

Get in contact with your NGEN committee member today to work out your team and kick-off your fundraising efforts. There are limited spots available and you need to register your team and raise a minimum of $80 by 31 July in order to compete at the games, so register NOW to avoid missing out!

Each week we will showcase the fundraising leaderboard!

Where the money goes - to the young people who need it most:

  • $10 buys school supplies for a child who has missed out on the basics in life
  • $25 is a birthday present for a child who lost their parents to drug addiction
  • $50 provides a week’s worth of home cooked meals for a homeless young person
  • $500 provides a home, food and mentoring for a teen mum and her baby for a week
  • $3000 puts a child who has experienced severe trauma through a healing therapy program
  • $5000 provides a year’s education and housing for a homeless young person

Online fundraising ideas:

You can forego something and ask family, friends and colleagues to donate, such as:

  • Stop drinking coffee for a week
  • Stop smoking for a month
  • Wait a whole month before catching up on Game of Thrones

Or you can do something out of the norm, such as:

  • Walk to work every day for two weeks
  • Not wash your hair for a week
  • Walk your dog backwards

Offline fundraising Ideas:

Team captains are advised to bank cash raised and add it to the online donations, so leaderboard tallies each Friday are up-to-date

  • Dolly trolley on Friday donation. Add in a few cocktails to sell.
  • Agency Raffles. Eg. movie vouchers from Val Morgan, combine them with a basket of goodies and wine, and sell tickets for 1 for $2 or 3 for $5.
  • Chocolate boxes from Cadbury to sell.
  • Act as gofers for anyone in the office, pay to have your car moved,  money in the meter, get a coffee/lunch/breaky etc.
  • Bacon and egg breaky BBQs.
  • Cup cake day/stall.
