As a mother of 4 children under 10, Anglea McCaughley hadn't exercised in 10 years.

However in 2015 Ange decided to throw on her running shoes and start training for something she didn't think she would ever be able to do... run a marathon.

Why you ask?

Well just one year earlier Ange's young daughter Lila was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes and the McCaughley family’s life changed forever.

Sitting in the hospital watching Lila sleep for hours upon hours, Angela cried so many tears, while also promising herself that she would change the way that others thought about Type 1 Diabetes and pave the way for a better future for her daughter and tens of thousands of Australian children like her.

“I wanted to create as much awareness as possible so that Lila will never feel isolated or different.”

And that saw the birth of Mum's Run For Type 1.

After taking part in the Great Ocean Road Marathon in May 2015 Ange decided to join forces with other mother's across the country and commit to running a further 7 marathons in 7 locations over the next 12 months - all while raising awareness and money for Type 1 diabetes.

“I will stop at nothing to make Lila’s life easier.”

How you can get involved?

Commit to taking part in a fun run, marathon, half marathon or physical activity of your choice and start a fundraising page (by clicking start fundraising above). Funds raised will assist Ange to establish and operate a fully registered, DGR status, foundation for Type 1 Diabetics in Australia.
