In May 2013, I will take to the Pacific Ocean and commence a journey to become the first white man to circumnavigate Samoa by kayak. The vision for this project is to push the boundaries of personal adventure, and in the process, raise money and awareness for youth suicide.

As the journey unfolds, I will be joined on the water at various villages by local fishermen, traditional outrigger groups, surfers and other boats. Although I will be by myself for most of the 300km journey, I will not be alone. This is a key message for our youth, who should always have someone to turn to in difficult times.

“Sometimes you might be by yourself, but you are not alone”

As it currently stands, I see 3 major sources of fundraising:
1. The sail on the kayak will be up for ‘sale’ to the major corporate sponsor(s) and will be the most prominent logo feature likely to reach world wide media. This will be a one off donation.

2. We hope to receive donations, or at least have these groups encourage donations, through the various community groups who will accompany the kayak on various legs of the journey. So far we have had interest from fishermen, surfers, but there’s nothing stopping swimmers, sailers and canoe paddlers to join as well!

3. The mycause page will be open for people worldwide, to donate and will be the key source of funds through an active media and marketing campaign as the event approaches.

The goal is AUD$25,000 - that should do some good.
