The Dolphin Research Institute is a not-for-profit organisation providing research, education and marine conservation to the community for over twenty five years.
We are a passionate champion for our dolphins, our bays and southern coastal environments.
We deliver this through -
- Research on our dolphins to understand the issues and propose solutions
- Marine education with schools and communitys
- Our award winning 'i sea, i care' ambassador program, that has developed more than 5000 young ambassadors to become marine leaders
- Pro-actively infuencing attitudes, policy and environmental management
DRI was seeded in the late 80's by people who were concerned about our local dolphins and what was being done to our marine environment. The Institute is self-funded from the community, the corporate sector and government grants. Our original concerns and passions remain, as do our community roots.
Our marine family is fragile in the face of coastal pollution, human disturbance and a changing climate.
We must act to stop the tragedies that are being inflicted on dolphins around the country and ensure that our dolphins in Victoria are protected from similar fates, ensuring that future generations can also be touched by these smiling ambassadors for the sea.
There is no one else like The Dolphin Research Institute, and we need your support to do even more.
Help us to protect and value Victoria's marine treasures-
too precious to lose!
