The Women’s is Australia’s first and largest specialist public hospital for women and newborns.

For more than 155 years, they have been advocating for new approaches to women’s health, as they have always recognised the different health challenges that women face throughout their lives.

They care for women by offering a unique service – one that has been shaped by women’s voices and needs – and one that continues to evolve over time.

Last year, the Women’s treated more than 200,000 women, provided more than 11,000 cancer treatments, managed more than 7,000 births and provided critical care for nearly 1,700 premature and sick newborns.

In response to the needs of their patients they have developed unique models of care, they have established new clinics and centres of research and they have invested in state-of-the-art facilities and technology to improve health outcomes. Beyond the walls of the hospital, they advocate for fundamental health reforms and they continue to train hundreds of health professionals caring for women throughout the state.

Every day they are working to develop new and better ways to prevent, diagnose and treat conditions that affect women and their newborns.
