Heathcote, at the foot of Mt Ida, is situated amidst attractive bushland beside McIvor Creek, 109 km north of Melbourne via the Northern Highway, 47 km south-east of Bendigo. Its population is about 1800. The principal products of the district are wool, timber, cattle, honey and wine.
