The Outpost Inc.

The Outpost Inc. was established in February 1990, over 32 years ago, and is the ONLY non-referral after hours service feeding those in need 7 nights a week in the Greater City of Geelong.

33,498 people attended the outpost last year, equating to 45,000 hot meals provided to those most in need.

The Outpost abides by a “no questions asked” policy and serves food to a diverse range of local people including young families and children.  Some people are sleeping in cars and doorways; others aren’t homeless yet are doing it tough.

NOT EVERYONE visiting the Outpost is a rough sleeper.

The Outpost is very much a community – often the same people come and go; and sadly new faces are ever emerging through the doors.

At its core, the Outpost services ensure sure that people have a hot meal, that there’s a place to go, to feel safe and have a conversation with volunteers and with their community and friends.

The Outpost offers more than serving a healthy hot meal – it’s a safe place within a welcoming, non-judgmental community.

“There’s no referrals to access The Outpost – people can just turn up. Whoever presents for a meal, we serve.”

The Outpost delivers:

  • Hot healthy cooked meals
  • Hot and cold drinks – Coffee / tea and milo
  • New and recycled clothing and shoes
  • Fresh fruit and vegetables
  • Blankets, beanies, street swags, sleeping bags
  • Personal hygiene products (including male and female sanitary products)
  • Various other personal items as donated
  • Welfare support including food and pharmacy vouchers

Volunteer Applications and donations are always warmly appreciated and welcomed.
