Children First Foundation imagines a world where all children recieve the medical treatment they need regardless of where they are born. We believe all children are entitled to the best care that will enable them to meet their full potential to the best of their ability.
Our two programs contribtue to these goals but offering assistance to children in Australia and overseas. Between the Gaps assists disadvatanged Australian families who have disabled or chronically ill children. The program provides the unfunded portion of the costs of mobility and education aides, and assists with the expenses related to a child's long hospital stay, such as emergency meals, accommodation and travel.
Miracle sMiles facilitates life changing/life saving surgery in Australia for children from disadvanateged countries not equipped to provide the necessary treatment. We achieve this through partnerships with surgeons, medical professionals and hospital who provide services pro-bono or at humanitarian rates.
We see children with condtions such as limb deficiancies and deformities, cranio facial anomolies, injuries from burns, club foot, cleft palate and renal.
While in Australia the children are cared for at our Rehabiliation Home - known to all as The Farm - in Kilmore in Victoria. All pre-and post-surgical care is provided at The Farm. Most children arrive with no English, poor nutrition and hygeine so these are priorities to address. They have often been excluded from school and community due to their Such is the care provided, the children have a good grasp of English within weeks, and achieve a level of confidence that they are well prepared for surgery.
Children First covers all non-donated expenses such as travel and transport, prosthetic limbs, food clothing and care at The Farm. We recieve no government funding.
