The Inspire Youth and Community Centre 

The Youth Centre is the heart of a local community in need. The centre is a place where the local youth can come for help with work experience, confidence building, financial advice or assistance. We also provide a safe place where local youth and other community members can come to just simply talk, relax and make new friends. We endeavour to help our local youth through their difficulties and guide them into becoming strong confident and productive adults.

 

Our centre provides visitors and guests with a number of general activities such as pool tables, basketball courts, table tennis, computers with internet access, a music centre, a chill out area, electronic gaming consoles plus a variety of other games and activities.

 

The Reasons We Need Your Help

 

  • After nearly 20 years of supporting the greater Liverpool area, we needed to reduce the number of sites we operated due to major funding cuts. 

  • Closing the doors of 3 centres around the local area, has left the Inspire Youth and Community Centre as the last ray of hope for Liverpool and its surrounding suburbs.

  • The impact of the funding cuts has been so keenly felt at our centre, that paying for simple every day overheads has become a real fight for survival.

  • On top of this finding funding, to sustain the extremely beneficial programs we currently provide and to allow us to expand the program list even further in the future, it will take further funding.

 

Outlined below are the programs we currently offer and those we would like to initiate. Take a look and you will see what a worthwhile cause we truly are. Our community desperately needs our help, and we need yours.

 

Our Current Programs - Need Your Support

 

School Holiday Program

This is where the centre provides an affordable day out for children and their families. During each of the 4 school holidays each year we host approximately 50 to 60 kids per day providing them games, activities, a hot lunch, prizes and giveaways. This program helps take the stress out of the holidays for parents looking for things to do with their families.

 

Work Experience Program

This allows high school students and unemployed youth to gain valuable experience in work related activities. The areas of work experience we offer are Administration, Reception, Computer Programs and Data Entry, Retail including eBay sales, and wood work skills.

 

Wood Working Program

Local youth are taught basic woodworking skills. They are taught to produce small wooden toys that we in turn use as donations to non-profit day care facilities and as Christmas presents for children whose parents cannot afford them.

 

The program is taught by semi and fully retired people. People with a life time of knowledge that are willing to pass on their skills. It helps retired members of the community once again feel useful, while also helping to end the cycle of isolation that some of them suffer.

 

We have found that both the young and the old participating in this program develop a new found respect for one another. The skills acquired from this program has lead to  many participants taking up apprenticeships, or seeking jobs in construction and as handymen.

 

NILS Program (No Interest Loans)

Working together with Good Sheppard, NILS, and NAB we are able to provide interest free loans up to $1200 for essential purchases such as car repairs, white goods, medical equipment, doctors bills and specialist appointments.

 

Emergency Relief Program

Working with a government department known as EAPA, we are able to provide financial assistance to members of the community struggling to pay electricity, gas and water bills.

 

Casework Program

Providing local youth and adults avenues of help with accommodation, financial assistance, counseling and help with family situations.

 

Parenting Program

The Triple P course has been proven to provide sound guidelines for struggling parents.

 

Mums and Bubs Program

Designed to help parents and children join in with social activities where they can learn from each other while also getting them out of the house and socialising.

 

Our Future Aims - Depend on You

 

If we receive enough support there are a number of programs we would gladly start to help a community desperately in need.

Providing assistance with after school tutoring, computer basics classes and homework assistance.

 

Adult Educational Assistance Program

Helping adult clients move into the present and the future by providing computer classes and language assistance.

 

Social Interaction Program

Working with people in insolation, bringing them together through shared interests such as woodwork or arts and crafts

 

Food Program

To provide fresh produce and sustainable food to clients financially struggling in the greater Liverpool area.

 

Disability Program

Encouraging social interaction for those with intellectual and physical disabilities through social and skill building activities.

 

Beginners Netball Program

Teaching young people hand eye co-ordination and the basic rules of netball for future placement in teams.

 

Drop In Centre

Opening the site for evening participation getting youth involved in activities such as basketball.
