HMRI is a world-class multidisciplinary medical research institute based in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia.

Established in 1998, HMRI researchers deliver cutting-edge translational research and technology closely aligned to community health needs. HMRI facilitates collaborations between researchers translating ground-breaking scientific advances into better clinical care, competitive commercial products and improved health care guidelines.

In partnership with the University of Newcastle and Hunter New England Local Health District, HMRI’s 1100 clinical and biomedical researchers work across seven key RESEARCH PROGRAMS:

  • Cardiovascular

  • Health Information Based Medicine

  • Pregnancy and Reproduction

  • Public Health

By attracting community donations, HMRI helps to improve our understanding of diseases and conditions that touch the lives of people known to each of us and work to improve treatment and long term health outcomes.
