Alfred Deakin High School is a Year 7 - 10 school formed in 1989 from an amalgamation of Deakin and Woden Valley High Schools on the site of Deakin High School. We are a health promoting, aspiring carbon neutral school focussing on improving the health and wellbeing of our school community through programs such as:

  • pastoral care focussed on improving skills in social and emotional resilience
  • PE & Health, including Outdoor Education
  • specific kayaking and mountain bike units
  • yoga and meditation for all staff and students
  • garden to plate food
  • healthy food provision in our Canteen operated by Healthy Kids Association NSW
  • recycling and sustainability programs throughout the school

The Alfred Deakin High School 'healthy hub' initiative is seeking community support to help fund numerous new projects in 2016.  Our goal is to develop spaces in and around our school that encourages healthy lifestyles.

We have identified the following projects to be actioned this year; synthetic playing field, mountain bike track, community fitness stations, community garden and a new canteen model.

ADHS is a multicultural school, embracing students from 67 different cultures and we have sister schools in China, Indonesia and Japan.  We pride ourselves on providing a first-class education for our students and offer many extra curricular activities to enrich our students' lives.

We have ambitions to be an exemplary school and hope that with your support we can make a difference to healthy lifestyles within our community and across the ACT Education Directorate.
