Health Australia & Tanzania (HAT) - Working in Partnership

Health Australia & Tanzania (HAT) Inc is an incorporated association (registration number AOO47020H), founded in 2005 (ABN 89 423 297 589). HAT's purpose is to raise funds to support development projects that improve access to water, health & education in one of the world’s poorest countries, Tanzania.                           

Tanzania is located in East Africa, bordered by Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi, Congo, Zambia, Malawi & Mozambique.

· The population is 36,000,000.

· 51.1% live below the poverty line.

· Main exports are coffee, cotton, cashew nuts, minerals & tobacco.

· Under 5 mortality is 136/1000 children (Australia 6/1000).
· Life expectancy at birth is 45.24years.

Our Partner

HAT works in partnership with HAPA (Health Action Promotions Association - Society No SO10892), an NGO based in the Singida region of Tanzania. HAPA takes a grassroots approach, working with local villagers to identify their health priorities and develop projects that will meet the needs of their communities.


Our Projects

HAT seeks to raise funds to finance two HAPA projects.

1. $6,000 will provide a medical dispensary with equipment. Once the facility are equipped, a medical officer & two nurses will be appointed by government to run them. The dispensary will service around 10,000 people & provide vital services & lifesaving inoculations to newborn infants.

3. $30,000 will fund the construction of three wells in the Kimbwi village. Presently the region is suffering from drought.
