Kokoda Youth Foundation was founded by Vietnam veteran Doug Henderson OAM. On the forefront of veteran’s issues for more than ten years, he was inspired to start the foundation in July 2004 after listening to a guest speaker at an RSL conference talk about the Battle of the Kokoda Track and the Pacific Campaign. Our mission is to change the lives of Aussie kids. Our youth programs focus on personal development using the pillars of the Spirit of Kokoda as the foundation: courage, endurance, mateship, sacrifice.

The Kokoda Youth Foundation is a registered charaity and non-profit organisation that exists to change the lives of young people in the local community. Funds are raised through the Kokoda Challenge events where competitors are required to walk continuously for 96kms in a time limit of under 39 hours. All donations raised by these participants go directly towards funding our youth programs. In addition, we operate two outdoor education centres inland of Southeast Queensland where all profits also assist funding out youth programs.
