MEDIA: Behind Bars for Babies

This coming week, a large group of well-known Perth residents have volunteered to be locked up behind bars to raise money for the charity Helping Little Hands, with the aim of raising money for a special video camera system in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at King Edward Memorial Hospital.

As enough money is raised for each “prisoner” they will be freed from their cells. The aim of the campaign is to raise at least $115,000 to set up cameras on 32 intensive care cribs.

The cameras, which will record a live encrypted feed can be viewed by the parents and families of the newborns in intensive care with a personal password in the hopes that a stronger bond will be formed than when the parents are restricted to set visitation times and siblings are not allowed to enter the NICU.

With over $26,000 raised so far across all the “prisoners”, Helping Little Hands is well on their way to supplying these great camera systems for the NICU at King Edward Memorial Hospital.
