Canberra basketballer crowdfunds for knee reconstruction to chase professional career

As Kalie Kamara dared to hope for a professional basketball career after acclimating to life in a new country with unfamiliar customs, he suffered a horrific injury on the court.

Kalie is determined to return to the basketball court and continue playing in Canberra’s Premier League.

“Basketball was a way of making friends and getting to know people in Australia, but at that point in time I was just playing socially,” says Kalie in a recent ABC News interview.

“A couple of years down the track, I thought this was something I’d like to make a career out of.”
