Helen and Harrison: The Six Foot Track

We are two crazy English folk planning to take on the Australian bush to raise money for the Ian Thorpe's Fountain for youth charity, which aims to bring positive changes to the lives of children in Indigenous Australian communities.

We are going to run 'The Six Foot Track': A 45 kilometer trail through the Blue Mountains reaching altitudes of 1200 meters. The Six Foot Track passes through Cox's River and Megalong Creek, which are both important sites in Aboriginal Heritage. We hope that you will support us in raising money for a charity called Ian Thorpe's Fountain for youth, which works to improve health, education and quality of life for children in remote Indigenous communities around Australia. Having known very little ourselves about the issues faced by Indigenous communities before coming to Australia, we hope that our run will raise some support and awareness back at home.

This will be an entirely self-supported run so we shall be carrying all of our own food and water supplies. We will leave Katoomba (the start of the track) before sunrise with headtorches and hope to complete the track arriving at the Jenolan Caves within 10 hours. The track is incredibly steep with the last 30 km almost an entirely uphill battle, and with neither of us ever having run a marathon before we are fully expecting this to be one of the greatest challenges we have ever faced.
