I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer in November 2017 and I am fortunate that the businesses my husband an I have built allowed me to temporarily stop work and attend to my health. This includes taking time out to recover from 12 months of Chemo. But many individuals and families are not so fortunate. The costs associated with being sick can cause families to go broke even in Australia where we have medicare. My goal is to raise funds for families needing financial assistance during the time they are dealing with Cancer. Everyone deserves to have great care and no financial stress during that time.
As Australia's peak national non-government cancer control organisation, Cancer Council Australia advises the Australian Government and other bodies on practices and policies to help prevent, detect and treat cancer. We also advocate for the rights of cancer patients for best treatment and supportive care.
