BCH needs a new ultrasound machine -

and YOU can help us get it!!

Updating our ultrasound machine will provide better and safer outcomes for patients in our Emergency Department, Surgical Department and Maternity Department. That's a lot of patients who could benefit!

Among the many uses of a new ultrasound machine, the most exciting news is that it would mean the doctors in our Emergency Department could:

~   Assess the activity of the heart in patients with cardiac arrest and show    

     reversible causes -  literally life saving!

~   Look for chest and abdominal internal bleeding in major trauma - again, life

     saving!

~   Gain intraveneous access in patients with 'difficult' veins - reducing the patient's

     pain and allowing for important medications to be given earlier.
