Most of us know the evils of single use plastic bags; we’ve read the statistics about how they pollute our oceans and waterways and kill our wildlife and we’ve seen the horrific photos of animals dying thanks to plastic bag pollution.

East and west of central Australia, which has already banned the single use lightweight plastic bag, there is increasing momentum to say NO at the checkout.

When we asked YOU about the issues that are the most concerning; more than 75% identified plastic bags as your #1 concern.

This is great news! Bring it on we say! YOU can be part of a history making action for a total Australian ban of single use plastic bags

One of the main obstacles in our way is retailers’ confusion on how this can possibly work for them and their customers.

Large retail chains have the resources to research the best kind of alternative for their customers. But what about the smaller retailer – who now needs to offer their customer a sustainable alternative?

Clean Up wants to help – by providing small retailers with a tool to help them review and choose the best option for a bag replacement in their store.

10 years ago, when we first embarked on this journey, Clean Up developed a website that allowed small retailers to make informed decisions, identify and compare suppliers and then plan the phasing out of single use bags in their store, supported by downloadable marketing resources.

The site was very popular! But withdrawal of funding means the website is now out of date and static. We need YOUR help to get the website back up and running and keep it relevant for retailers; pledging that 100% of funds raised will be dedicated to the revitalisation of this tool.
