Fundraising for sosinas dad

Hello all,

Sosina Wogayehu, a generous, treasured, and long term Circus Oz person, is raising money for her dad who has fallen very ill in Ethiopia.

So far Sosi has raised the money to fly him from Ethiopia for major surgery here in Melbourne. Now he is in intensive care and will require extended hospital recovery. Because he is Ethiopian, not Australian, they must pay full price for his hospital stay.

So far Sosi has gathered amazing support, including a very generous surgeon, Iain Skinner, who has done the complex consultation and surgery for free. However the costs just keep piling up. The intensive care bed that her father is in currently in costs $2400 per day and then once he gets better he will spend two month in hospital at a cost of $760 a day before the cost of the treatment! This is a crazy amount of money for a freelance performer to pay, but Sosi cannot replace her father's life so she is doing it hard.

Meanwhile Sosi's mum is back in Addis Ababa, also quite unwell and on oxygen. In fact Sosi's Mum is so unwell that Sosi didn't want to call her until her dad was safely out of the worst of the surgery due to fears for her mother's health.

If you know Sosi you'll know that she is one of the most generous, carefree and supportive people you're likely to meet, and has spent her time since she emigrated to Australia being a source of joyful positivity.
