Update: "Yesterday we tragically we lost one of our NobMob friends, Graham, after a long battle with cancer. We send our condolences to his family, and hope to honour his memory at the Dirtworks. Rest in Peace Graham."
Each year, many riders go through the stresses and strains of training for and
racing in the Dirtworks 100. As hard as times may get in the saddle, nothing on
a bike compares to the pain and anguish that patients and their families face
when dealing with Cancer.
Most of our friends in the NobMob (http://nobmob.com/) and Erina Bikeworx
(http://www.bikeworx.com.au/) families will have been affected by this awful
disease, and unfortunately Cancer has pointed it's ugly finger at my

over the past few years.
My Father in Law has faced drastic surgery and heavy doses of Chemotherapy in
2009 to destroy a rare form of abdominal cancer. My Wife has been dealing with
a rare form of Melanoma for 4 years now - a disease that has claimed her left
eye and has now spread to her liver where it is now inoperable. She has been
fighting through invasive Chemo treatments every 3 weeks and is determined to
overcome this hurdle. Both are caring, loving, strong-willed, hard-working and totally undeserving of what has happened to them - but no-one deserves to face this horrible affliction.
If you want to be responsible for helping to find a cure and making the word
Cancer a distant memory, please join me in raising funds for the NSW Cancer
Council.
How you can help:
- If you're riding in the Dirtworks, go to the Mycause website
( http://www.mycause.com.au/Dirtworks2010CrankinforaCure) please join the Team: NobMob/Erina Bikeworx (password: nobmob),
and seek sponsorship from family and friends by forwarding them an e-mail invitation. Maybe suggest performance based
donations: extra $2 for breaking 6 hours, etc? Imagine the motivation you will
get when training or racing, knowing that your efforts will be recognised by not
just your riding mates, but also your family, friends and a very worthwhile
cause!
- If you're a friend, family member or colleague, please get behind these
riders and make a tax-deductible donation. Also, why not volunteer to help out
at the Dirtworks on race day
(http://www.maxadventure.com.au/100kmclassic/nsw/volunteers.html)?
Thankyou for your efforts,
Andrew Bull.
