From October 16-18, 2009 I will be riding in the
Kilometres for Kids ride from Sydney to the Hunter Valley and back and will be helping to change the lives of young Australian wheelchair users.
The
Kilometres for Kids ride covers 450 kilometres in three days and raises funds for the
John Maclean Foundation which provides financial assistance to young wheelchair users through the purchase of new wheelchairs, medical equipment, vehicle and house modifications, computers and educational assistance or any item that helps to improve the quality of life for these great kids and their families.
Kilometres for Kids is going to be a great personal challenge for me and I know that at times it will hurt, but hopefully your support and encouragement will make it just that little bit easier. You can make a donation of any amount by clicking on the 'Donate to this Cause' button, and to encourage your support I will be offering a small incentive. If, by Monday 12th October, the total amount raised reaches:
- $1000 - I will partake in the irrational cycling tradition of leg shaving.
- $2000 - I will get my legs waxed.
- $3000 - I will get my chest waxed as well!
So please spread the word. If you need any more info about the
Kilometres for Kids event, please log on to the

--UPDATE--
Over $1000 was generously donated by Monday 12th October, so the razor came out leaving my legs smooth and sleek. Thanks to all who contributed!
The
John Maclean Foundation is a registered charity founded by legendary wheelchair athlete John Maclean OAM. John is the first wheelchair athlete to have completed the famous Hawaii Ironman triathlon and is the first wheelchair athlete to swim the English Channel.
JMF provides support on a national basis and assists children who experience paraplegia, quadriplegia, cerebral palsy, muscular dystrophy and similar conditions.
JMF supports families whose children desperately require support. In many cases the families are surviving on extremely low incomes and Government assistance and incurring extraordinary costs associated with the welfare of their child.
JMF recognises the abilities of these great kids and encourages each to achieve extraordinary things on their own terms.
JMF holds official charitable status with the NSW Department of Gaming and Racing and is a registered Deductible Gift Recipient. More information is available at
www.jmf.com.au or by calling (02) 8920 1155.
Please support me and my fundraising by donating money to my cause.
Thank you for your support
