Adison 1st Birthday

Adison was born at 25 weeks weighing just 865g and spent 3 1/2 months in the nursery at King Edward Memorial Hospital. For about 3 weeks of that time he was ventilated and without the ventilator he most certainly would not be here with us.

We'd like you to dig deep and make a donation towards the Angel Breaths campaign being run by WIRF to celebrate Adison's 1st year. Angel Breaths is for both respiratory research and equipment.

The medical team are currently testing a hybrid ventilator, one that does both conventional breath ventilation and also high-frequency oscillatory ventilation (which effectively delivers “angel breaths” but a little differently to the jet ventilator). It also allows them to swap babies from conventional ventilation to high-frequency oscillatory ventilation without disconnecting them, or crowding the bedspace with additional machines. It's called a Drager Ventilator.

By October they will have completed their testing and WIRF hope to have raised enough money to buy this special ventilator or to put towards another piece of piority SBU respiratory equipment.
