Maroondah Hospital, located in Ringwood East, has been providing public health care services to the community of the outer eastern region of Melbourne for more than 30 years.

The hospital has 301 beds and provides a range of services including:

    *Emergency medical and surgical services

*General and specialist medical and surgical services

*A range of allied health services including speech pathology, physiotherapy, and occupational therapy

*Specialist inpatient adult mental health services

Located in a growth corridor of Melbourne, Maroondah Hospital continues to develop services and facilities to best meet the needs of the community.

Maroondah Hospital’s original foundation is based in the community of Maroondah and owes its existence to the tireless work of the Maroondah Hospital Society, a group of local community members. Continued support from individuals, community groups and local businesses allows for purchases and refurbishments that give added comfort to patients and equipment that provides updated technology that assists the Hospital Team in providing the best possible services to the community.

Funds raised through last year’s Murray to Moyne ride allowed Ward 2South to obtain a Bariatric Chair Scale ($3900), and Ward 1South was able to purchase a Pulse Oxymeter ($495).

Mary-Anne Kelly, Nurse Unit Manager for Ward 2South said, "We are absolutely thrilled to have the Electric Chair Scale. The technology allows safe, accurate weight readings of the patients for use in prescribing medicines and monitoring the patients."

Essy Shergis, Nurse Unit Manager for Ward 1South added, "Pulse Oxymeters give quick and accurate readings as well as reading the level of oxygen in the blood and are one of the most commonly used pieces of equipment in the Wards. They are always in demand."
