Touched by Olivia

Our Dream To give our children a healthier and happier life

Our Approach We create strategic partnerships with local councils, hospitals, and community groups and operate as a fundraising body to fund significant change to improve the health and happiness of children

Our Story In November 2006, John and Justine Perkins lost their 8 month old baby daughter, Olivia, to a rare disease called lymphangioma. Their life, and that of their son Will, would never be the same again. Through her sickness and passing, Olivia gave her parents a parting gift – the inspiration to create a lasting legacy in Olivia’s name – “Touched by Olivia Foundation”. In her short life, Olivia touched many hearts and in founding the Foundation, the Perkins family hope to see Olivia continue to touch many more lives and bring happiness to other children

Our Focus Olivia’s touch will continue to be felt by other children and their families through realising the following initiatives:

Local Community Initiative – building all abilities playgrounds

In 2007, the Foundation will raise over $100,000 to upgrade an existing playground within the City of Canada Bay area, to an all abilities standard. This will enable all children, irrespective of ability, to play and interact with each other in a friendly, stimulating and safe environment whilst meeting the needs of their parents and carers as a social, supportive outlet. The playground will be a first of its kind in the area

Partnership with the Sydney Children’s Hospital Randwick

The Foundation is working with the specialists within SCH to enable the advancement of medical treatment for children requiring ICU care, including those with lymphangioma and related diseases. Already the Foundation has raised and committed over $75,000 to SCH for the purchase of vital equipment for the ICU. The Foundation will also release information pertaining to Olivia's care whilst in ICU including the world wide publishing of Olivia's medical history, and findings, with the aim of helping families of children facing similar battles

Supporting carers and programs aimed at nurturing children

The Foundation will work with other community groups and children’s charities, such as Good Beginnings (’s leading charity for children 0-6yrs), to enhance the well-being of children in need and help them develop healthy social, emotional and intellectual skills

Our needs The Foundation is purely volunteer based. It relies upon charitable donations from corporations, community groups and individuals to raise all funds and invests 100% of all donations. It is a registered charity and all donations $2 and above are tax deductible
