Cystic Fibrosis Western Australia
About Cystic Fibrosis
Cystic Fibrosis (CF) is one of the most common life threatening recessive genetic disease conditions. It mainly affects the lungs and digestive system. There is a 1 in 25 chance (that’s one million people in Australia) of carrying the gene which most people are not aware of until they meet another carrier and have a child with CF. There are three pillars of treatment for CF: maximising nutrition, airway clearance and treatment of lung infections. Daily treatment includes intensive chest physiotherapy, inhaled medication, antibiotics, salt supplements and up to 40 tablets a day to assist with digestion of food. Although huge strides have been made to increase the life expectancy for people with CF; sadly this illness still takes too many lives, far too early.

How You Can Help
All proceeds from CFWA’s fundraising activities go directly towards providing these services to individuals affected by CF and their families. We want to help more people living with CF and we can only do it with the continued support of our community. Donations and organising your own community fundraising activity to raise funds for CFWA will go a long way to helping us achieve our goal of “Lives Unaffected by Cystic Fibrosis.”
Donations over $2 are tax deductible.
